STOPP Day 6
Tmr is the submissionnnn and we're here in school and i'm stressed and i'm blasting my music in my ears coz its making me feel better and rawr!
Okay so i need to chill and do my work...
It's amazing what stress can do to people. I can animate so much faster than i thought i could.
I'm almost done with my flash animation so all we need to do is just to compile it to premiere and make out whole thing proper... i hope it turns out nicely.
We all spent time colouring the drawings and the drawings look really good.
Tri is helping alot! Kudos to her.
Andrea is somewhere in school doing all what she has to do hopefully hahaha i'm sure she will. I hope so :S
Back to work...
Let me take a moment to spasm...

STOPP Day 4
So today was AWESOME!
We all did our work and i'm so proud of my group! We had loads of awesome ideas which molded together so well that even i was suprised at how much we accomlished during that short span of time.
Amanda gave us loads of good ideas to use and i feel that all our work combined together would make something really good.
We all have our talents and its amazing when we realise it.
We delegated the work;
Gina & Me - Animation
Tri & Dion - Drawing
Andrea - Collaterals and Planning
So thats about it. Cant wait to see the whole thing in all its glory!

STOPP Day 5
Omg day after tmr is the submission and we still don't seem to be going anywhere?!
Dion's late. Gina was late... Tri can't start without Dion's environments and Gina and I can't start animating without anything to animate! ERUGH
So i started doing the poster. It looks quite awesome!
Yay!
Yup so Gina did the name cards and that was about it for today.. Looks like we'll have to rush rush rush tmr! Die!
Back to work. Maybe i can go motivate my group members.

STOPP Day 2
Right so today i started with my rough storyboards which look alot like thumbnails at the moment :S...
But i have all these awesome ideas which just keep flowing and flowing and drawing takes to long to jot them down i just scribble and doodle here and there. Almost like the legendary Hitchcock! hahaha I want to be a director anywayyy so drawing isn't such a big deal to me. Though it does help to illustrate my ideas better :D
So i've got a few ideas, some of which are nice and others i would like to expand upon. But its all good and my brain will start generating new material soon. Must not rush my brain! Greatness comes when it wants to and it should not be forced :D
So there's the second day :)

STOPP Day 1
Yup so today we got our project brief and it sounds really exciting. Although i know that the idea of storyboarding isn't something to be excited about but hey! we're gonna like "role-play" with the pitching so we pretend that we're pitching it to clients! haha sounds fun.
So we got into our groups and i'm with Dion, Gina, Tri and Andrea. Not bad i think. We have two good story-boarders, Gina and me who are good with ideas and can help anywhere and Andrea who does good organizing. So we immediately knew our roles.
We got the song What if She's an Angel. A really nice song which has alot of emotion and feeling. It'll be hard to get the feel of it coz its a sad song. But that challenge makes it even more fun! hahaha
So I kinda took charge for the day and i said that everyone go back and do a rough storyboard each so we all have ideas that we can play around with. We also had to do a very vague budget for our proposed story board. Alls well i say!
Till next time!

Day 30
Yup so today is the final submission of our production package. And this is the final lap, the final run. So here we are burning the dvd and binding all the work together.
Luckily the deadline for blogs is tonight mid-night so we still can update more if we want to.
So overall it was such an exciting project one where I learnt new things and how to work different software. I also brushed up on the basics I learnt through out the year and I must say that I feel more confident using the video software.
I enjoyed working with my friends in my group and I hope to get them again for the next projects coming up.
I am very happy with our final video piece and I know we put in 110% of effort. Although some people put in more effort than others, it all turned out well and we were all proud to see our work come to life that day during the screening. It was such a wonderful feeling to see the weeks of planning actually turn out great. There were times I thought we would never finish but we did. So I am immensely happy.
Cheers to News6!

Day 29
Today was the final presentation! And boy was i looking forward to it. But happiness is short lived.
Ok so everything was going well until we had to burn it into the tape and for some strange reason it couldn't be burnt into the tape. We think that the settings could have been wrong or something. So thanks to Lionel, god knows what he did but we eventually had a tape to show.
So watching the other groups present was interesting. Some where not as good as i expected but some surpassed my expectations. I guess from this we can understand and take note of the people that we can work with or can't work with so this project could allow us to take note of those whom we just can't work with. I guess i am very lucky to have group members whom i can work with very well. I really really adore my group and i hope we can all work together again.
I can tell that some groups had conflicts along the way, conflicts ranging big and small. To the minor to the major. But luckily for my group we didn't really have any conflicts.
Honestly i feel that our video came in 2nd out of all the video. The unanimous vote for first place would obviously go to Raj's group. Because their spiffy graphics and exaggerated music gives the atmosphere of epic-ness which that wanted. However, i thought their content lagged in the sense that i would have expected better. But the epic-ness of the video makes up for the lack of content. So kudos to them.
The first group to present really gave my a very Blair Witch feel in the beginning. They had awesome footage but it was all sped up and choppy so it made it look confusing and very headache-y.
I also felt that it was abit wrong for those groups who have members previously for ITE, to show their ITE work as we do not learn that in the first year. And if it is screened at the open house then the newbies would have unreal expectations of what the school would teach. Since the extent of our 3d animation is a bouncing ball and a cone leg, while for 2d, its just very basic flash although it is easier to play around and learn flash rather than with Maya. But anyway, thats just my views on it.
So that was the presentation, which i enjoyed immensely.

Day 28
Today we are at bb's house so that he can do the editing and i can do some journal entries. Dion and BB are taking a break and i'm here listening to glorious heavy metal music and doing journal entries. I forgot to update that my flash is finally completed without any cock-ups and its finally in bb's com so the he can include it into the final piece. I have a feeling that we're going over the time limit but its a good video and its gonna be so hilarious!
No fancy animation, no fancy video work, just plain wonderous footage which shows MOI in a totally different way. Comprising of witty scripts and humour, its the next blockbuster film!
I should work for advertising haha

Day 27
We finally met with Alfie today and he liked our work!! He said that he wanted to see the entire thing when its fully completed. He really gave us the much needed enthusiasm and confidence that we are okay. Thanks Alfie!
Wednesday, March 12, 2008
Day 26
Luckily there's no meeting today because i need to do my flash, which was somehow deleted yeserday *glares are sister* anyway, here i go, having to complete it all over again... i dont know where all my patience is coming from but its radiating somewhere in between my nose and my left eye. So yeah i think i better stop journalling and start doing the flash. This time i shall turn off msn, turn off the internet and just concentrate on the flash and only the flash.

Day 25
Okay another problem came about. My flash is gone...GONE GONE GONE....
SING;SLNS;LDIBVSODIGSHWDHNVSLASLKFNAS;LDKGNS
You know this really makes me think about how much your computer would affect your work. If your ram is not good enough, it will hang. It your graphics are not good enough, it will hang. So no matter what your computers software is directly proportional to the haste-ness of your work. I don't know if i'm making sense but I'm just so pissed off that everytime i complete my flash or finish like 3/4 of it, it will hang or it doesnt save. Saving is another headache. It takes ten million years to save the file and everytime it tries to save, the stupid "Not Responding" message will come on and nothing will get saved and i have to do the whole EFFING all over again!
Argh, okay back to doing flash again for like the ten millioneth thousaneth time.

Day 24
Today we're doing the voice-over for the videos at Bb's house, Omg it is so fun haha playing around with the mic and doing different kind of voice effects.
It was a productive day and i think by the looks of it, our final project looks pretty dandy! haha
I have also noticed that my entries are becoming shorter and shorter, I think P1 has reduced my tendancy to write long and thoughtful entries. With the amount of work we're all doing i wouldnt be suprised if all my other group members have shorter entries. I think anyone who has long long long entries for every single day are certainly not doing their work...

Day 22
Okay, the flash is finally working for me properly all thanks to my boyfriends laptop hahaha
So here i am doing the flash on his lappy and stealing wireless from other people hahaha
wish me luck. I just hope it can save, i have been trying to save and it cannot save.... Grr!

Day 21
Can it get any worse?!!
My stupid flash cannot save and the stills which bb sent me so that i can do the flash is corrupted hence i only have 50 still frames to work with. I feel like smashing my com now but i think i shall just go watch nice happy vids on youtube then try again haha

Day 20
Ok so i finally started with the animation and i must say that its so ARGHAJDFLGNHLASDKJBS. Firstly coz i just got a new com, and a new com means that all my old software from the old com is gone too. So i had to go get the free trial of flash in order to do my work. Argh.
Monday, March 3, 2008
Day 19
Today we had to split up into our little sub groups (animation team and video team) to work on our different core areas. The head of animation tean, Dion, instructed me to do the hand animation for the hand scene. Looking forward to that. So off to do work haha ciao!
Friday, February 29, 2008
Day 18
Final Day of Fliming!! Completed!! YAY!!
Okay i shall tell you about the fun day today.
It was fully andrea today. All on her ahha. I think it made her a little insane but all was well. Our special guest was Joel Wee, so i'd like to thank him. He's so funny la! Really! He sure can act and when you all finally watch our video, you must guess who the person is haha its quite obvious la but shhh :P
So after a long day of filminf and record breaking NG's, we are finished with filming! Now off to do the painstaking animation and brain smudging editing.
We can do it!

Day 17
It was my filming today!
As much as it was fun, it was tiring. I had to stay in my position while my other group members did what they had to do. I don't know the term for it, maybe i should google it or wiki it haha maybe its called stop motion or something. But nonetheless, it was fun. My back cried several times haha but still fun. It was a short day of fliming which was good since we were exhausted from the previous filming. We lunched after that. Taa!

Day 16
Yay on to the 3rd day on filming. I wasnt there yesterday due to some personal problems but i know that my group managed just fine.
We went to film Dions hand scene. This i really so funny that even thinking about it now, i am laughing haha Ok so our location was the stairs of the old CityHall. We got ready, set up the camera and Rina was there ready to give her news cast BUT lo and behold, here comes this old little security guard, coming to shoo us away from the stairs. I mean, isnt it public property? There weren't any signs which said no filming. I mean if people can take pictures there, why not video? Grr! So in the end we crossed the path way thingie and went to the war memorial outside of the esplanade. I think we broke some rules because we didnt want any cars of buses to park where we were filming so what boon bin did was put our stuff on the road so nothing would get in out way. This was scary because there were so many occasions when Dion and i thought that the bus would run over our stuff or knock it down, but thankfully nothing happened. There were also a group of foreign workers sitting near us and Dion was scared that they would run away with our stuff or something. Yikes! After numerous NG's and loads of running. we were done.
Kallang Leisure Park!
Firstly, I want to say that getting to leisure park is a FREAKIN PAIN IN THE TOOT! We just kept walking and walking and walking. Sweat sweat sweat...
After that we spent the whole afternoon filming Dions and BB's scene. I got super sunburnt but i had fun. After that, Andrea, Dion and BB proceeded to my house to watch Pulp Fiction.
Kudos to Quentin Tarentino.

Day 15
We finally started filming! YAY!
So the location was the hereafter lab. I love the hereafter lab, it feels so.. labby? haha I love the holw professional feeling that radiates off the greenish walls haha. And the soft hum of the super computers really gives the ambience of a video editing location. I must say, this was a very good location.
The cast for this was Yvonne and Me. I won't spill much details of what the filming was about but its just an interview haha with a nice script and it'll be funny if you know your current affairs haha. It was quite annoying sometimes when you have to retake shots because we had to re-read the script and re-act again. But on the whole it was really fun and we had loads of laughs along the way. 3hrs of Filming just for that one scene, are we okay? Will be be ON TIME? *shiver*

Day 14
So today we decided on the nitty gritty but oh-so-important stuff, PROPS. Yup we took note of every single prop that we needed and on what day and if we need to make it so i guess we are almost done with out pre pro. So finally we can start filming! Yay!

Day 13
30 days left. Exhausted and STILL we have filming to do.
Dion didn't make it today so we couldnt finalize the storyboards. We work on other stuff in the mean time. Rina and I worked on the ninjas for the last shot of the video while bb and yvonne worked on the screenshots and other camera related stuff. I'm glad to have boon bin in our team. He's really awesome with the camera due to his experience so i know that our whole video will be awesome.
Thats pretty much it. Another unproductive day. Actually we did do stuff but we work better as a whole team so being without Dion was quite upsetting but i'm sure we're okay. I hope i'm not kidding myself. But i can feel it in my bones that we are FINE! Yes eff-eye-enn-eee, Fine! :)

Day 12
We met together in our groups today, it was a short meeting where we just informed the other group members what our progress was. Yvonne and i were really good, we had the script almost completed and we liked how the script looked and the humour in it.
We lunched after that and had fun amoung ourselves haha
Sometimes i wonder if we're too lax. Or of we're on target. According to our plans we are on target and we shouldnt feel the need to be stressed but i can't help it when i see other groups all stressed and already filming when we are still doing the pre-production. Anyhow, i trust Andrea and he planning and i know that we would be okay.

Day 11
So after a very enjoyable Valentines day when love-sick boys spend so much money to please their lovely girlfriends haha we're back to work. Yvonne is a really good partner, i can trust her to finish her work on time and properly. So back to doing the script.

Day 10
Todays Valentines day! hahhaa
We didnt have a project meeting today because we decided that it wouldnt be fair to our other halves hahah and since me and yvonne and dion are attached haha. So basically today i planned with yvonne on what to do with the script since she was my paired partner. I told her that she could do whatever she wanted for the script and then she'll send it to me so that i can edit it and add on where i need to.
On the whole it was a rather slack-ful day haha but i loved it!
Off to see the boyfriend! :)

Day 9
Well today we finalized our roles in the production. I thought about the storyboards and since i am pretty much a visual person i was incharge of making our WRITTEN storyboard into a PICTURE storyboard. With much help from our Artistic Director Dion of course. Its quite hard to visualise written words into a picture, i must say. But i was very fun and i had the much appreciated support from my awesome group. It was another productive day and we did have conflicting ideas sometimes but we're mature adults so no fighting for us. Fights are bad haha they build tension within a group haha.
So yay to another productive day. and yay for valentines day tmr!

Day 8
Ok today was one of the probably most productive but at the same time, one of the most exhausting.
We managed to get the flow of the video all finalized to prepare for fliming. We wanted it to be certain, all details all taken note of so that when we film, we would be on task and not waste time and take not needed stuff.
I was a little distracted during the meeting, it could be because i was mastering the rubiks cube but i was also terribly hunger and my mind refused to work. You know when they say you can only lead the horse to the water but you can't make the horse drink.
I think if it wasnt for andrea who headed the meeting with patience as well as bossyness (haha) we wouldnt be on task right now. So big big kudos to Andrea. Shes a born leader and knows that when work needs to be done, it will be done.
So we got over the meeting and i finally had my food! CHICKEN CUTLET AND NACHO CHEESE! i was so hungry, maybe thats why my mind wasnt functioning. So yep today was a good but excruciatingly tiring day haha.

Day 7
Wow, never have i enjoyed CNY much like how i enjoyed it this year haha. I spent most of the time with my friends from school. It started off with a movie at the Cathay followed by some fun at He Pan haha.
Ok i shall touch on what happened at the movie theatre. You see because the group was so big, we were undecided on whether to watch CJ7 or Sweeney Todd. Ok lets give the gist of the whole thing and why i am bothering to blog about it here haha. So lets say me, I refused to pay $9.50 to watch a Chinese show about an animated fluff ball, hence i wanted to watch Sweeney Todd considering that i fancy musicals. But some others didnt want to watch Sweeney Todd because they don't like musicals. So here i shall touch why this is worth blogging about. I don't know if i'm just being biased against chinese languash films but i don't usually watch movies which are in Chinese or let alone in any other language. I find reading subtitles very annoying and i'm not actually watching the show but just reading the subs. I try very much as possible not to watch movies in the theatre which are not in english.
So yes, thankfully i wasn't the only one who wanted to watch Sweeney Todd so a group of us went off to watch it, I was immensely happy haha.
I like to digress haa. So anyway. After all the festivities we were back to thinking fully about project one. Sometimes we wondered why we didnt feel any stress, while the other groups were all "omg how, blah blah blah"
So it was quite fruitful today as Alfie told us how we could add certain stuff and what content we could use. However since we wanted the whole news like feel to it, we thought of new like content to put into it. We wanted to use the real life current affairs and play around with them so that it involved Design.
So on the whole, I would rate today as A*** :)

6th Day
Presentation today!
I just love presentations, i mean whats so scary about it anyway? i guess when you present infront of the class you know its not so bad. But i can't wait to see how its like presenting to total strangers like maybe people like Steven Spielberg or something haha dream on Clarissa.
Alfie liked our presentation. I don't wanna be boastful or whatever but i expected it. We're on task and we know what we want. We also have very strong individuals in our group who arn't afraid to stand up and present their own piece. I feel sorry for groups who have soft spoken people because its hard to express their ideas. I think they should learn how to have confidence in themselves when they present because Design isn't only about having awesome finished pieces of work but also to be able to present your work to others. Also being in the media industry, or like us who are going to be in the media industry, we should be able to present our ideas with confidence as directors out there would want you to present your ideas to them and if you cannot do it properly, even though you idea is very good, you might not get the job.
Anyway, i digress.
So Alfie liked our presentation. And we all were happy with it. Looks like a good start for our project, if i do say so myself.

Day 5
Well i didn't go for the first presentation today. I was super sick, the stupid bug is going around and i guess due to the amount of work we're doing for the project 1, i haven't had the chance to build up my anti bodies, hence i am a neato little target for Mr Flu Bug. Grr.
I always feel guilty when i can't make it to a meeting, its like i'm not giving my 100% to the group. But i dont think i would be of any help even though i did go today. My throat is full of phlegm and my brain is all stuffy and blah. I think i'm giving too much infomation but yeah.
Anyway, i know my group and i know that they can be awesome even without me there. I am really happy with my group, we seem to have the best of all our assests together and we haven't fought...yet haha but i dont think we'd ever have any major disagreements. We have our crazy moments which makes working together even more fun. We know when to work and when to play so its all good.
Anyway i think i better head to bed.

3rd Day and 4th Day
On the 3rd day we had combined class. I love combined classes as i get to be with all my friends from all the other classes and we pretty much can make havoc happen haha
But during this class we were shown different documentaries to teach us different ways we can go about making our "movie". I found this really good, especially watching the LOTR making-of. However, i was quite upset when they had to put it cut it so that we could watch the other snippets.
When watching the documentary about the everest expedition a lot of people thought that it was a very badly done show. I disagree.
It is true that it is technically not up to standard of the LOTR's one but i think it depends highly on the target audience of that documentary. It is highly detailed and contains a lot of terms used by the men that average non-hiking people like wouldn't understand. I think this is why most of the class found it boring or not "capturing" enough. I however looked at it much differently. I think the majority of people who buy this are interested in mountain climbing so they would want to know the technical terms. I don't think they would bother about the "nice-ness" of the movie quality either. All they probably want is something with detailed terms.
I also think that the lighting was not up to standard because they are up in the moutains. I don't think they have the budget to bring up all the expensive lighting into the snowy tops in case of a snow storm or what not. Thats why the quality of the filming was not that good. I also think that they wanted it to have a very "raw" feel to it thats why minimal editing or video quality was used. Again i stress that this is all due to the target audience. I think target audience is one of the most important factors of a production as it could literally mean changing the entire theme of the production if your target audience objective is way off.
On the 4th day we had a class. Alfie again told us about what we need to do and what our objectives should be. Although we did not have Andrea Lek with us, i still feel that we covered quite a bit on our own. We pretty much thought about the content and finalized the theme of what we want our production to be about.
I'm really having fun thinking about the different ways we can bring about the joys of MOI. I like having witty conversations with my group as all our ideas merged together usually turns out to be something really nice and useful. I guess i'm lucking to have a group such as mine as i feel we really gel together and our teamwork is very strong.
However, i do have a problem with our lecturers repeating the same thing over and over again. For the past 4 lesson's we've been told the same thing over and over. I know that reiteration is good as it helps people to remember but there's also something called OVER-KILL.
Its nice that they want to help us a lot but i feel that we don't need to be cushioned all over. Yes we make mistakes but sometimes we need to realize for ourselves that they are mistakes and not for our lecturers to tell us all the time. I mean, seriously, when we go out into the working world, they won't be there to say "Clarissa, i don't think that idea would work well" or "Clarissa, i think you need to rethink the objective". No, they won't be there to cushion me. So maybe they would just lay off, just a little bit? Please :)
Oh and about this blogging thing. Sure i think its a great idea but its hard to blog everyday. So i hope its okay for me to cover two days in one entry rather than type an entry everyday.

Second Day
On the 2nd day we had major group discussion and we talked about what we were going to do for project one.
We all had many ideas and we finally picked the one we all thought was the best one. Alfie also helped us get onto the right track as we got so excited that we went off track often. This usually happens when i'm with my group. I guess we get too enthusiastic that we mind-kill ourselves with ideas. And i know that sometimes we may go off topic but we will usually get back on track in the end after we sieve through all our ideas in the finalizing stages.
Nothing major happened today, it was mostly just group discussion and getting used to this whole BIG PROJECT thing.
Note to self: Stay to the objective and think of target audience :)

First Day
So today was the official first day of P1. We all went to the LT for a combined class sort of lesson where Alan told us what P1 was all about, certainly clearing all our doubts whatsoever. The first thing i checked was if it clashed with DOC which i am in. It doesn't clash with the camp itself but it might clash with the training camp. It's so funny that even now, in the beginning stages, people are getting so competitive on who they want in their group. This is the time when some friendships are severed in order to take in people they know can perform or are extremely good in a certain task. Although my group is pretty okay, we fought for Boon Bin to join our group since he's very good with the camera and will be an advantage when we do our filming. We're really lucky that Alfie let us have a group of 6 since our class is of a weird number. This means that our final piece will be 30mins! So i hope that we can do something really nice for the 30 mins :)
